RBR 760 Issues Every Couple Weeks
Hi there,
Sorry in advance for the long explanation. I just discovered my support expired after only 3 months?? Cant believe thats all netgear offers?? I have the Orbi Mesh RBR760 with two satellites. Every 2 to 3 weeks, things seem to wrong…either one of the satellites will drop and be difficult to reconnect or the router seems to start experiencing trouble (sorry would love to be more specific but I know nothing about this stuff). For example, today, my Ecobee thermostat is connecting to the wifi but can’t connect to the ecobee servers even though the server status says all good. It seems to be struggling with a dhcp address but I’m not sure. Often when these things happen, I’ll reboot/unplug etc and eventually get things going again. Some times, when I do this the Orbi forces me to set up the system as a new system? Not sure why it would do that?
im ready to return this thing to Best Buy. It’s been so frustrating. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. And if you have any ideas to get the ecobee connected that would be greatly appreciated (I’ve removed it from the wall and tried to power cycle it a couple times).
I did also click on the link in the Orbi support page to see what paid support would cost…it took me to a page doesn’t exist…
thanks for any help!

What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

Armor, Smart Parental Controls or Circle, Traffic Meter. The 760 series is a entry level low budget system that may not be best suited for your needs. It's based of the 350 series hardware that's only dual band supporting. You maybe better off getting in to at least a 750/850 series that has better IoT support network and better FW support.

Haven’t tried with the satellites off.
Please give this a try when you can. What Firmware version is currently loaded?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?I’m using Starlink internet. I have the first version of Starlink and so have removed their router and am plugged in directly with the orbital router.
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
About 2400sqft in the house with a detached garage.
For this size of home, the router and just one RBS maybe needed.

The first satellite is on the second floor above the router….so about 15ft. The second satellite in the garage room, probably 30-35 ft.
15 feet in between the one RBS and RBR is to close. 30 ft is starting distance.

Out of curiosity, is it normal for it to make you set up as new after power cycling or rebooting?
No. Once setup has completed, should not be asked again unless you trigger a factory reset.
Thanks!- CabotdogAspirant
Thanks. I’ll try with satellites disconnected. In regards to being forced to set up as new after a reboot, do you think that could be a hardware issue? I’m puzzled by that.
