RBR750 stuck on older firmware branch – Update check returns nothing, manual file rejected

Re-posting reply as it disappeared.  

I purchased it from Amazon, Aug. 2025:

NETGEAR Orbi Whole Home Tri-Band WiFi 6 Mesh Network System (RBK752P) – Router with 1 Satellite Extender, Security Features, Coverage up to 5,000 sq. ft., 75 Devices, AX5200 802.11ax (Up to 5.2Gbps)

 

https://support.netgear.com/support/product/rbk752p shows:

RBR750P (Orbi Router) Firmware Version 6.3.8.5 Latest

RBS750P (Orbi Satellite) Firmware Version 6.3.8.5 Latest

 

There is no firmware upgrade path here and as another pointed out there is no v6.3.85

So a slightly stripped-down 2.4 GHz radio, making it AX5200, while the RBK763S, RBK762S, or RBK76xS is AX5400 - made up from RBR760 (router), and RBS760 (satellite(s)).

Tricky comparision with the many different Orbi variants in the various retail and eshop channels.

RBR750P and RBS750P are cost-down siblings to the RBR760 and RBS760, -not- from the RBR750 and RBS750 as HappyCat assumed.

The RBR750/RBS750 system is (or was) AX4200 - so wrong comparison, and unrelated in the Orbi family tree 8-)
