RBR760 and RBS760 unstable satellite connection
I currently have 3 RBR760s and 6 RBS760s.
RBR760 Master (main router set to DHCP)
RBS760 Timmy Bedroom (connected to Master's LAN port via 5 port switch)
RBS760 Timmy Living Room (connected to Master's LAN port via 5 port switch)
RBR760 Parents AC (AC mode, hardlined into it's own WAN port and connected to Master's LAN port)
RBS760 Kitchen (connected to Parents AC via LAN port via 5 port switch)
RBS760 Family Room (connected to Parents AC via LAN port via 5 port switch)
RBR760 Brother's AC (AC mode, hardlined into it's own WAN port and connected to Master's LAN port)
RBS760 Sister (connected to Brother's AC via LAN port via 5 port switch)
RBS760 Attic (connected to Brother's AC via LAN port via 5 port switch)
My main router seems to be constantly discconecting and reconnecting the satellites. Not sure as to why, but what recommmendations do you have to help me create a stable network with the 3 routers (2 set to AC mode) and 6 satellites that I have?
Linked is a great photo of the success after numerous attempts to finding a solution to this network stability issue. This is what I did to find success in providing the greatest range of coverage along with speed.
- I initially started with 9 units
3 RBR760s and 6 RBS760s
I struggled to get the configurations working with 2 of the RBRs set to access point mode, so I gave up on that idea, this caused me many different failures as I daisy chained, star networked, and tried many different configurations with this cause I wanted maximum coverage using 9 units.
I now only use 1 RBR760 set to DHCP distributing IPs, hard lined 2 of the 6 satellites via super long CAT6 ethernet cord to opposite corners of the estate with the main router in the center of the estate, then wirelessly synced the remaining 4 of 6 satellites to the main router and spread them throughout the other corners of the estate. Totaling 7 devices out of the original 9 purchased for this project. I really wish that there was firmware that allowed an unlimited number of attached devices, it blew my mind that even hard lined RBR760s were considered "satellites".
Thank you to Furry for helping me! Appreciate all the help sir.

Not sure what AC mode is. Are you referring to AP Mode?
All this is in the same building/home?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What channels are the RBRs using? They should be all using different channels and different SSID names.
What is the brand and model# of the switch in the mix?
Having that many RBS and additional RBRs maybe causing too much noise and interferences.
What Firmware version is loaded on all the units?

Yes, my mistake, AP mode. 🙂

1 home with a guest house in the rear.
roughly 10,000 square feet totalWhat channels are the RBRs using? They should be all using different channels and different SSID names.
I have them all broadcasting the same SSID, trying to allow for seamless connectivity for users walking around the estate. Should I have them all broadcasting different SSIDs? If I do, what channels should I use?

Netgear 24 port Gigabit Ethernet Switch JGS524NA

I was hoping that you wouldn't have said this. What would you do if you couldn't return the equipment? How would you set this up for best performance? I have a Microsoft paint image attached to this thread to show how I have the network laid out.

RBRs have V6.3.8.5_1.4.80
RBSs have V6.3.8.5Ok. Wow. 🙄
What is the distance between the RBRs 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️ at each location and in between the main location and the remote RBR AP locations?
30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.
Lets try keeping same SSID name for now.
Turn down the power on the RBRs all to say 50% at first then maybe try 25%. Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
For channels, set RBR main router to 1 and 40.
RBR AP 1 to 6 and 44
RBR AP 2 to 11 and 48
If this doesn't bring stability to the system, then you may need to change the RBR APs to different SSID names and try that. Also may need to reduce the RBS count by one at each location as well and adjust the power level back up maybe.

Glad you finally got it all working.
I feel that having the additional RBRs in AP mode was making things confusing for the system. Also good to know that this new configuration works with that many RBS.
Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
