RBR850 AirPrint Issue: iPhone Can See Printers but Cannot Print (Apps Work, Windows OK)

I’m experiencing a persistent AirPrint problem on my Orbi RBR850 and would appreciate guidance from the community or moderators.

Setup:

  • Router: Orbi RBR850 (all satellites powered off for testing)
  • Printers: Epson + Canon AirPrint models
  • Devices: iPhone (latest iOS), Windows PC

Symptoms:

  • iPhone discovers both printers via AirPrint.
  • When printing, the job hangs or fails silently.
  • Vendor apps (Epson/Canon) print successfully from the same iPhone, so connectivity to the printers is fine.
  • Windows PC prints normally.
  • Issue persists even with only the RBR850 running.

Troubleshooting already done:

  • Rebooted router, printers, and iPhone
  • Turned off all satellites
  • Disabled IPv6
  • Disabled “Private Wi‑Fi Address”
  • Disabled “Limit IP Address Tracking”
  • Confirmed printers are connected to the Orbi network
  • Confirmed Windows and vendor apps print correctly

Despite all this, AirPrint jobs from the iPhone do not complete, even though the printers appear in the AirPrint list.

I’m trying to determine whether this is a known RBR850 firmware issue affecting Bonjour/mDNS or AirPrint traffic, and whether a firmware rollback or specific configuration change is recommended.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

(I note there are many documented issues with Orbi and Airprint. I am very tempted to just throw this Netgear Orbi rubbish away and go with Eero or Asus.)

It might be useful to see if a different iPhone (or iPad, Mac, etc.) can use AirPrint on this network with these printers.

(perhaps a friend or neighbor?)  It would be a bit of a letdown to go through the process of purchasing another mesh WiFi system only to find that the same thing happens with it.

Or... try this iPhone on a different WiFi network to verify that AirPrint works with a different system/printer.

Soething to contact Apple and the Printer Mfr about regarding there stuff.

Try resetting the network settings on the phone. I found out a while back with printing from the phone photo app would not print to a WiFi Direct printer. Thought I could print from Safari browser on the phone to same printer. After lots of troubleshooting and such, I happened to find tis network reset option in the phone. Use it and finally, printing from photo app started working.
