RBR850/RBS850 Firmware Downgrade Issue

Hi… I’ve been struggling with the dreaded v7.2.6.31 firmware issues, and finally decided to do the downgrade to the previous *.21 firmware. I downloaded the required RBR and RBS firmwares, then disconnected the one RBR and 2x RBS’s from power. Then restarted one of the RBS’s and connected to it over ethernet with my Mac and tried to login using http://orbilogin.com (also tried 192.168.1.1) but could not connect via a Chrome browser. I tried a second browser (Safari), but no go.

Am I doing something wrong? We are getting sick of having to restart our RBR one or more times a day because of the dreaded pink light. Just to confirm that 99% of the time just restarting the router fixes the problem, and only on the odd occasion do we need to restart our nbn modem. I have tried restarting our modem at other times just for the sake of testing purposes, but the frequency of pink lights doesn’t change.

I also couldn’t find the link for the firmware downgrade instructions which I have seen on here before, so if someone could share those too, bonus points!

Please help… thanks in advance.
  • http://orbilogin.net or http://orbilogin.com works only on the router.

    Suggestion:

    • Disconnect the router WAN port from the internet.
    • Power up all three Orbi's (router and satellites)
    • Once they are "up", use the Attached Devices page to learn the IP address of each satellite.
    • Connect to the web home page of each satellite and select the menu item Firmware Update
    • After doing the satellites, connect to the router and navigate to the Advanced Tab, Administration, Firmware Update page and select the Manual tab. Then use the part of the page "above the line" to manually update the router firmware.
    • After the router reboots, navigate to the page where you can disable Automatic Firmware Updates.
    • Finally, reconnect the internet.

Thanks CrimpOn. When I go to the Satellite web home page, should I still be trying to do that via direct Ethernet connection (as I have read on here) or are you suggesting doing it over wifi?

I managed to get through the steps above using ethernet at each satellite then the router and everything is now up and working. The true test will be if we can get through a few days/weeks without the pink light/dropped internet, but I’m optimistic! Thanks CrimpOn.
