Hello Ekkoh ,
Welcome to the NETGEAR Community!
I understand that you are experiencing issues with your RBRE960 on firmware version 7.2.7.15 when connected with an ethernet cable. Please install the latest released firmware version 7.2.8.5 then monitor your network to verify if the issue persists.
Please navigate to the link below for your RBRE960 Firmware version 7.2.8.5:

Thanks! That seems to have solved the issue with the satellites connecting via Wi-Fi instead of cable. However, my original problem has gotten even worse with firmware 7.2.8.5. I constantly lose the IP address on my devices and get assigned a 169.254 address.

What devices are loosing an IP address? brand and model please.
How was the system updated? Manually or Automatic?
RBS first then RBR lastly?
After the system was updated did you continue to use the system or power cycle the system OFF for 1 minute then back ON?
Is the separtate 6Ghz wifi network disabled or enabled?

iPhone 15 and 16. One on iOS 26, other on 18,6.
Two different ATV, both on 26.
MacBook Pro 2024 on Tahoe.updated manually. RBRE first. Then RBSE. Continue to use. Haven’t turned off.
6ghz enable.

More strange things. There is no cable between “Ovan” and “UTB”. “UTB” is connected with cable directly to RBRE.

Didnt help with new firmware. Attached screen photo. Device "Entre" is connect with cable to RBRE but still uses WiFi. Even with poor backhaul status.

Might turn OFF the other two RBS and bring the one RBS to same room as the RBR and ethernet connect the RBR directly behind the RBR and see if the status will change to WIRED. IF it does, you will need to check into the cabling issue between the remote location where the RBS normally is placed and all cable lines in between there and the RBR.

Without having changed anything, the RBS has now connected to the RBR via cable. I’ll have to keep monitoring this.
