RBRE960 LAN PORTS DROPPING

Hi All,

I have been having a problem lately with my RBR960.  The LAN ports just randomly drop.  I work from home and this is a problem when on video calls.  Could this be a firmware issue?  The router and sats are all running  V7.2.6.31.

  • Problem solved. The satellites have been up for over two days after reconfiguring my network switches.

The router is connected to a 2.5GB switch for hardwired backhaul.  Off of that switch there are only two connections, for Satellite 1 and Satellite 3. My mistake was the LAN cable going to satellite 3 was connected to another switch in my office first before the Satellite 3.

That switch was connected to my ARUBA for my work VPN connection, satellite 3, and other wired network devices (appleTV, rokuTV, onkyo receiver.)  In this configuration there were any spanning tree loops. I was treating the satellite as basically an AP.  What clued me in was a weird situation when it was in that configuration with a 4th satellite showing up on my topology with a broadcast address. Broadcast storm?!?!?!

To correct this I simply connected the LAN cable from the 2.5GB switch (that is from the backhaul port on the router) directly to the satellite 3. Then used one of the 1GB ethernet ports off the back of the satellite to the 2.5GB switch in my office. I don't have any throughput issues.  On my VPN connection through my ARUBA I am getting much better upload and download speeds.

Next step is to let it run for another week.  If it's stable upgrade to the .31 firmware.

What brand and model devices are connected to the LAN ports?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router and satellites been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

    What region are you located?

I am using a NG CM-3000.  It was recently added to the network. I upgrade from the CM-2050V.  I was tired of waiting for NG to fix the firmware issues not allowing uploads up to 200MB.  I have a brand new Cat 6 augmented cable in place (molex brand)

I have already went through the steps to gracefully restart the network as you have detail when I added the CM3000.  I even went as far as powering on the wirelss back haul sats before powering on the wired sats that are connected to the 2.5GB network switch.

Connected to the lan ports I have a netgear MS305 2.5GB network switch, GS608v4 network switch, Netgear ReadyNAS and my Samsung smarthings hub.

NG is waiting on the ISP to get there stuff ready so that NG can make the fix for the CM2050v.

What device is connected on LAN3?

For LAN cable on from the RBRs 2.5Gb port to the MS305 switch, should be using CAT6A STP cabling. Same from the RBRs WAN port to the CM3000 Multi Gig port.

User have seen odd or problematic issues after v.31 was loaded. If your in the USA region, we've been recommending users revert the RBS First back to v.21 then the RBR lastly. You'll need a factory reset and setup from scratch after v.21 is loaded on the system. If your outside of the USA region, users have reverted to v6 FW.
