RBRE960 Wifi 6 not working

Previously had Huawei WiFi 6 mesh system...cheap but range was poor so I upgraded...#RBE960 is great for the extra output. I previously had super speeds on my iphone 12Pro Max in the old system...but cannot get the router to show me a wifi 6 connection. Also my mac studio ultra has wifi 6 capability.

Cant get wifi 6 enabled - please help!!

- tried the web config adding the separate SSID/wifi 6 checkbox, changing the name and password compared to the 2.4G /5G saved. No SSID for wifi 6

- tried rebooting the router. No SSID for wifi 6

- tried AP mode and Router mode. No SSID for wifi 6

- tried making a support ticket - just got put onto standard docs showing which buttons to push. No SSID for wifi 6

- tried updating all units to latest firmware. No SSID for wifi 6

chatted online to someone - they were really slow...couldnt help...again just got standard look it up answers.

Anyone else here had such issues or have I got a hardware problem and need 3 new units?

supposed to have the 24/7 phone support - requested a call back but nobody has replied to that in ticket 3hrs.

  • wifi 6 and 6ghz are 2 different things.

    wifi 6 just includes 2.4ghz and 5ghz.

    wifi 6E includes 2.4ghz, 5ghz, and 6ghz.

    the iphone 12 doesn't have 6E so no 6ghz.

Thats why you can't see it.

darn you are so right....6E is different from 6 and how it is implemented by Netgear. In my Huawei I got really fast speeds on a channel that was reserved for 6 only...just like Netgear have for 6E....looks like another router for my switch until Apple can sort some product upgrades....hopefully next iPhone! til then I will wire connections to hardware.

Who knows someone may sort a mac version of a usb dongle for 6E standard...I sure would buy one...

Thanks for your help...and so fast - still no reply from Tech Support on my ticket

You might be talking about DFS channels. Netgear does use those but on the orbi it uses them for the backhaul (router---satellite) communication. That way the backhaul isn't the bottleneck in speeds.

What speeds are you getting over 5ghz?

the RBKE should saturate most devices over 5ghz without issues.
