RBRE960 WiFi Speed

Good afternoon.

I hope that you are well.

A family member of mine has the following setup in his house :-

1 x RBRE960

2 x RBSE960

BT Smart Hub 2

BT Full Fibre 900

The Orbi router is plugged into the BT Smart Hub 2 in it's default state (I appreciate there is a potential double natting issue here however the BT Digital Voice only works with the BT Smart Hub 2 in it's default state, rather than bridged mode).  The Orbi router is using it's factory settings also.

The router is in the hallway and one satellite is around 5 meters away from it in the living room.  The other satellite is in the bedroom upstairs pretty much directly above the living room satellite.

The Orbi application shows that the wired speed into the house is 934.64Mb Download and 51.18Mb Upload.

First and foremost, I was of the understanding that Orbi mesh networks should be capable of delivering near full broadband speed across the range in which they cover (especially the expensive RBRE960 setup).  Could someone please first confirm if that assumption is true (assuming a standard sized house)?

When doing various speedtests using the Ookla Speedtest application on an iPhone 15 Pro Max, the following results were observed when running the speedtest stood in front of each respective device :-

Router in the hallway - 662Mb Download, 50.3Mb Upload

Satellite in the living room - 390Mb Download, 50.3Mb Upload

Satellite in the bedroom - 311Mb Download, 50.3Mb Upload

Prior to each test, the saved network settings were removed from the phone and a fresh connection established to ensure that the phone reconnected to the nearest device.

Is this kind of speed drop off expected or should he be seeing very close to 900Mb Download and 50Mb Upload across the entire range being covered by the mesh network?

The Iphone 15 Pro Max should be capable of receiving the top end of that speed range right (assuming it is connected via WiFi 6)?

Any help or suggested required setting changes would be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Jimmy

      Hi mate.
Yes the 6 Ghz band is enabled. I tested it on my phone and saw "6" as part of my WiFi symbol.

I was going to disable the WiFi on the BT Smart Hub completely however it looks like the SSID still needs to be broadcasting in order to use the BT Digital Voice telephone service as the phone base unit cannot be hardwired.
