How are you trying to update it? If via the app, I'd suggest opening the settings for that specific satellite via the web interface and updating it manually from there.
Firmware for the Netgear Orbi products is a complicated issue. The satellite currently at v3.2.15.30 is at least 10 versions out of date. Check this support page and click the "+" sign to display the previous firmware versions:
https://www.netgear.com/support/product/rbr750#download
(It is a bit odd that v3.2.15.30 is not listed as a firmware release.)
If the system appears to be functioning well, there would appear to be no particular urgency in doing anything.
What happens if you select that satellite and click the option to update the firmware on that satellite?
There is a lot of confusion on the forum because the latest firmware released by Netgear features the addition of a new WiFi network, which they call the "IoT" network (for "Internet of Things" devices - although the WiFi SSID does not have to contain "IoT" if users want to name it something else) This appears to be an attempt to provide a means to connect devices which have poorly written smartphone apps that struggle to set up devices when the smartphone is connected at 5G and the device has only a 2.4G radio chip set.
Users who are satisfied with their systems are faced with a quandry:
- Leave things as they are (on version 4.x) and perhaps feel "left out" and "worried about security", or
- Update to the 7.x firmware and suffer whatever consequences come with that.
Get the one RBS that's on v3 FW updated to v4 FW first. Manually update it using a wired PC and web browser.
Log into the RBS web page after downloading the last v4 version of RBS FW and apply it to the RBS's web page.
Then if you want to update everything to v7 FW, manually update all the RBS first, then the RBR LASTLY using same wired PC and we browser process as seen here:
Get it from here:
