RBS350 ethernet problem
I have an RBS350 satellite which disconnects from the router when I plug something into the ethernet port. The system has an RBR350 router connected via its WAN port to the internet. There are 2 ...

The ancient WiFi access point will not cause the satellite to believe it has a 'wired' backhaul. It is difficult to imagine why a person would want to do this in the first place.

The access point is to provide a separate 2.4Ghz network for IOT devices. Whether or not my thought on the failure mode is correct, plugging in this device makes the satellite disconnect.

As Netgear did not implement an IoT feature on the 350 product, using the TP-Link Access Point seems like a suitable way to create an separate WiFi network for IoT devices. The TP-Link should be set to a 24G channel that will not interfere withe Orbi 2.4G WiFi.
You are using the WAN port to connect the TP-Link to the Orbi satellite, correct?

Yes, connected using the WAN port. Channels for 2.4G are set to auto on both devices.
I've set up Home Assistant notification to track its status, I'll see how it goes for the next day. If it keeps behaving the same way I'll move the AP and connect it to the main router.
