ORBI 963 - Best Way For Wifi
I have a Comcast Xb8 Modem inn Bridge Mode Connected to my ORBI 963E Router. The internet speed ORBI App Speed test shows is anywhere from 1375 to 1425 MBPS for download and around 42MBPS Upload. T...

Sadly its something to test because the wireless backhaul is going to be different for everyone because everyone's home/neighborhood is different. 5ghz speeds drop off quickly with distance and interference. So disconnecting the wired backhaul and actually testing your speeds wired into the satellite is going to give you the most real world performance data versus us just guessing if it'll be faster or not.
I have a very similar setup and bought a cheap (ish) 2.5gig 8x port switch just for my wired backhaul between the router/satellites. This allows my satellites to have the same full 1.4gig speeds from xfinity.
Only caveat with this is that it isn't usually the satellites that are the bottleneck but the actual device you're testing on. Most of my wireless devices can't max out my speeds over wireless. Only a few can (my intel AX210 cards) and they have to be either close to the router or the satellite to do so.

My home is cat 5E and managed to work with 2.5g. Just make sure your ends are terminated with high quality connectors.
I'd try using the wireless backhaul first and see how well it works. It might saturate your connections fine for the time being. Especially since multigig switches are coming down in prices.

Agreed..
And until I have 6E capable devices... no point looking/expecting for speed increases.
But I will research the Multi Gig switches.
Also, as per your post, my Cat 5E Network may have some life left in it 🙂 .. especially with good connectors.
Thanks for your comments and time - this is very helpful.

The intel AX210 is pretty cheap if you watch fleabay/amazon for it to be on sale. I put one in my desktop and swapped one into my laptop just for the 6E. Its a little more useful now with the 6E orbi than it was with my RAXE500. Still not the greatest as it doesn't have much range but its fun to test/play with.
the cat 5e is still holding in there nicely and upgrading it from gigabit capable to 2.5gig should get me a bit longer. Xfinity has been pushing speeds but they'll need docsis 4.0 to go much further. Plus i'm sure with more speeds, they'll raise prices. I'm already bumping up against my data limit more speed isn't going to decrease my data usage 🙂

I understand that DOCSIS 3.1 and 4.0 have the same download max speed... 10 GIG
DOCSIS 4.0 has substantially higher Upload Speed as compared to DOCSIS 3.1.
For guys like me who are no into Gaming - download speed is what is most important ... going from DOCSIS 3.1 to DOCSIS 4,0 will not make much of a Difference..
But faster is better ... always.

BTW - It would be nice for the ORBI App to report the Speed Between the Router and the Satellites ... but that may be asking for too much.
Have a Great Weekend.

Its a great idea. you can suggest it.
