Slow speeds on RBR760
Hello, I’m in Canada, and have a shaw gen 2 XB7 wifi modem set up in the basement. Previously, I connected my ps5 (located 1 floor directly above) to this through 5 ghz wifi. This was giving me about 400 mb/s on playstation 5 speed test. The problem was the signal strength through the rest of the house was sometimes poor for phones, and occasionally I’d get some lag while gaming.
I went out and got an orbi rbr760 tri band mesh network with 2 satellites. So now the main router is wired to the shaw modem downstairs, and I placed 1 of the satellites right next to my ps5 upstairs and ran cat 5e between them. I figured this would be the same thing as before for ps5 (as the mesh is still wifi), with maybe a more stable connection due to the better antenna on the mesh setup vs the ps5, all while providing better coverage around the house.
I was expecting maybe a slight drop in speeds, but when I ran a speed test on ps5 I was only getting 70 mb/s through the orbi compared to the 400 from before just using wifi to the modem. Is there some setup/changes I need to make with the orbi settings potentially, or is this just standard for mesh setups?
I do have a coax outlet a couple rooms away I’ve already ran to the room with ps5 for cable tv, I heard that moca adaptors are good, is this option a lot better?
Thanks

Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop
Try option #2 first...What Firmware version is currently loaded?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended. What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR📡 and RBS🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.
