Steps to enable Over 1GBPS with Orbi and modem
Hi,
I have a Orbi 852 and CM1150V modem. I currently get over 1gbps from Xfinity, but since I don't have multi gig aggregation or anything turned on i cant realize the speed. i dont even get 1gbps fwiw
is it as simple as going into the modem page and turning on multi-gig connections, then go into the orbi page and enable Wan Aggregation in the basic internet setting and then connect 2 ethernet cords in both port 1 and 2 (the 2 slated as aggregation?
Thanks,
Chris

Your Orbi 850 has a 2.5Gb WAN port so no need to deal with LAN Aggregation. Just connect a good ethernet cable and you're good.
However, you'll not get full speed if your Xfinity router is also activate at the same time as your Orbi router (i.e., Double NAT). Put your Xfinity router into bridge mode, use your Orbi in Access Point (AP) mode, etc. For more info see:

There are two issues here:
- When the CM1150V modem/router is in the default mode, it acts as a router and provides only 1GB service on each of the Ethernet ports. So, the CM1150 must be put into "not a router" mode. (i.e. only a modem mode.)
Alas, after looking at the CM1105 User Manual, I have not yet found any reference on how to make this happen:
https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/CM1150V/CM1150V_UM_EN.pdf - The second issue is how to set up the modem and router for link aggregation.
- The Orbi is easy. Page 78 of the user manual shows how to set up link aggregation on the router:
https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RBK852/RBK852_UM_EN.pdf - The modem is a different story. Although the product data sheet clearly states that the CM1105V supports link aggregation:
https://www.netgear.com/images/datasheet/networking/CableModems/CM1150V.pdf
I cannot find any reference in the CM1105V user manual for how to set up link aggregation.

My guess is that once you connect to the management console of the CM1105V, it will become clear how to put it into "modem only " or "pass through" mode and how to set up link aggregation.
As Willem Bendix (and later Daffy Duck) would say, "What a revolting development!"

FWIW, the Netgear CM1150V is a Cable Modem ONLY. There is no router built into the CM1150V ( I own one.). To set up LAN aggregation on the CM1150V, go the the cable modem's built-in webpage using IP address 192.168.100.1. Select the "Advanced" tab and then open the "Administraion" drop down menu. Select "Ethernet Port Aggregation" and select the "Enable" box. (see the attached screenshot) Be certain to hit the "Apply" button at the top of the page before closing the page or backing out of the drop down menu.
Once the modem is in Aggregation mode, you can set the Orbi to same mode by accessing the "Basic" tab and "Internet" page. Enable the "WAN Aggregation" check box and select "Apply". You may have to reboot the CM1150V and Orbi after this aggregation selection process.
The caveat with all this is I only have 900 Mbps Xfinity service so I cannot vouch for any other issues that may crop up during or after aggregation is enabled. Good Luck!
