Streaming Disney+ on Sky Q mini disconnects Orbi internet

I’ve got the RBK852 router and 1 satellite connected via cat5e Ethernet backhaul. The Sky Q boxes are all connected via Ethernet and have static IPs as I was having DHCP issues with the Sky Q boxes and IP address conflicts. I’m running the latest FW for the last month.

The system is running very well apart from the problem I’m about to describe. I’m getting great coverage and WiFi speeds as high as 800Mbps at times.

The problem is when I load the Disney+ app on the Sky Q box and after about a minute of whatever I’m streaming having started my internet will drop. I’m able to get it going again by disconnecting and reconnecting the WAN port on the router and it will go again within 30s, if I don’t do that it will just have no internet connectivity.

The logs do not show anything useful at all, how can I get more detailed logs? Will wire shark help here I wonder?

I don’t have any issues when streaming from one Sky Q box to another, this only seems to happen when I start streaming something through the Disney + or Prime video apps via the Sky Q box.

Any ideas on how best to troubleshoot? This is obviously a deal breaker and will need to return the system if I can’t find a fix.

What is the brand/model internet modem or modem/router you are using? Is your RBR850 set to Router or AP mode? Did you setup address reservation on your router for those specified static IP addresses for your Sky Q boxes?

I read in their forum it appears to be a Sky Q issue with certain streaming apps. And the work around is to use the Smart TV, Firestick or Android box app as a temporary work around.

Other posts suggested change the data usage from automatic to moderate in the Disney app and go to settings then reset the Sky Q boxes. They mentioned only issues is you'll lose all your apps and have to refresh them.

I'm using my router in router mode, it is connected to a Huawei ONT. I do have a reservation setup for the static IPs.

Will try a couple of the things you have suggested.
