Windows dropped connection new Orbi 750 AX4200

Weird situation.

Just set up a new Orbi 750. Set up went well, I'm generally satisfied. We are a primarily an Apple household but my partner has a Dell windows laptop which keep dropping WiFi; and when we view the list of SSID's available, our home network has an X in the corner.

This is only on her computer, the various Apple devices and Macs are doing just fine. She is working in a room with a satellite in it; it is a room that's always had dodgy connection, which is why I upgraded to a mesh but it's not that far from the router (the whole house is only about 2000 sf and we have two satellites.)

I'm reading that I should try to disable 5G and just use 2.4 - does this seem the best way to go? Be grateful for any advice. Thanks in advance.

  • Thanks all for the quick responses.

So, the strangest thing, I ended up simply choosing "Forget" on the network listing for our SSID; after that I reconnected and so far it's been holding just fine.

Will have to wait and see obviously but promising. Thanks again for the suggestions, leaving this up in case it helps someone else.

  • What Firmware version is currently loaded?

    How many RBS are deployed?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

Try disabling AX mode on the RBR under Basic Tab/Wireless Settings. There is two boxes, one for 2.4Ghz and the other for 5Ghz. This just disables the AX Mode on the radios.

Try changing channels as well, Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.

Be sure to update any wifi or ethernet adapters on the Dell PC from the Mfrs web site or adapters Mfrs web site.

Be sure to the check with Dell for help and support and information regarding there product.
