770 Wired Backhaul issues
Hello all!
Coming back to ask for another help with my 772 system.
Turns out that I am having a lot of issues with my setup, more specifically:
- Orbi App can't show 2.4 Ghz speeds for devices connected to main router
- Satellite rebooting randomly
- Main router freezing and resuming work only with a manual reboot
- If I reboot my system it ignores past 5 Ghz channel selection and goes back to default channel 40
Yesterday I've decided to give it a full refresh with a factory reset and manual firmware installation, and somehow I forgot to reconnect the ethernet cable on the satellite, going on a wireless backhaul (I've never had used it like this before because between both units I have a few concrete/brick walls and a bathroom) and BAM! All the issues were gone!
Funny part is that the connection is at peak speeds of 2.5 Gbps between units.
Question is: Is there something for me to check/do to solve this? Staying wireless is not an option based on my apartment blueprint and characteristics and speeds of devices connected to the satellite goes way down due to it.
Please some advice on it! Thanks in advance!
Here are some info regarding the main router. Satellite is the same firmware:
Firmware Version: V10.5.18.3_2.2.37
Boot Loader Version: 2016.01_rtm-10.5.2.6
seal: v2.1.10.12-0
armor-bd: v2.2.214.4
spc-circle: v3.32.0.4
guster: v1.0.0.2049
CPU Load: 17.65%
Available Memory/Total Memory: 1322 MB/1888 MB
System Uptime: 1 days 07:12:11

Any progress on this?
When the RBS is ethernet connected or had been, how was the RBS ethernet connected to the RBR? directly behind the RBR or is there a LAN switch or LAN patch panel in between the RBR and RBS?
What kind of CAT# LAN cable are you using? CAT6A STP is recommended.
Still suffering with the same issues.
After you factory reset the system it works on wireless backhaul until you wire it for the first time.
Then it behave oddly even if you unplug the cable again.
Answering your questions...
- When the RBS is ethernet connected or had been, how was the RBS ethernet connected to the RBR? directly behind the RBR or is there a LAN switch or LAN patch panel in between the RBR and RBS?
A: Direct connection by a seamless cable.
- What kind of CAT# LAN cable are you using? CAT6A STP is recommended.
A: Cat5e cable, but it looks fine with an Ethernet tester and the router connection info shows it as a 2,5gbps connection.
It is my fourth Orbi system and never have seen anything like it... just weird.
Thank for passing by and support!
Though CAT5E can be used, if it's UTP, maybe some bad behaviors can be contributed to using UTP for STP. Something I have seen with using UTP on higher speed connections past 1Gb. STP should be tried to see if this changed anything with the RBS ethernet connected.
