I am having awful issues with dropping connections with Fios

I am not an expert so thanks for the help... I am having awful issues with dropping connections with Fios. Android devices but also more recent laptops also. No apple house. Netgear has been working to find problem for over a month. Setup is 971rbe with two satellites. Orbi in router mode, direct Ethernet to FiOS Ont. Both Netgear and FiOS confirmed connection is ok although Netgear support has given two different answers. One you must use the FiOS router in bridge mode and the other direct connect is absolutely ok.i recognize most of the symptoms people listed here... The admin logs just streamed with DHCP to Mac address connections, many times the ip listed multiple times immediately after each other. Went drop internet access, WiFi says it is connected but no Internet access. Disconnect and reconnect 9 of 10 times it reconnects until the next drop which is frequent. I put in access point mode put FiOS router back in path and did not lose connections but speed was degraded significantly. The initial day I had reconfigured to Orbi in router mode I was getting okla speed tests (not via Orbi app) and getting mid 800 to 900mbs speed. After a day and after drops started to occur it literally dropped at one point to 30mbs to 50mbs up and down. Netgear support had me start running debug app so I have all the debug logs and details including configs. I've tried private dns', random Mac addresses off, adaptive connectivity off and none work, spread distance between router and satellites, shut one off, plugged directly into the wall instead of a surge protector. All of these recos from NG.  Would I be better off shutting ipv6 off on the router or just making this a glorified antenna system as access points until these are resolved? From what I read but being a novice everything you all spoke of lines up to my exact issues. Thank you for any tecos I can try...

  • May I ask a question? I have 971RBE (asked a question below also)... I believe I am having i believe I am having IPv6 issues. I am going direct to Verizon ONT ethernet and Orbi as router. in the settings are you saying first use the drop down to do auto detect... after applying it goes to 6to4 tunnel. Then should I use the drop down and set the drop down at the upper right to auto config or leave that at 6to4 Tunnel and change the setting in LAN Setup to Auto Config instead of Use DHCP server? Sorry if this is a stupid question...

  • ...an immediate benefit after the ipv6 change is that websites that would not load and said it was anot a secure connection (they were https sites) are now working. They worked on a separate ol laptop but not on a brand new laptop

FWIW, I double-route (putting my 870 Orbi behind the FiOS router).

IPv6 is enabled on the FiOS router (DHCPv6-PD).

IPv6 is enabled on the 870 (auto detect+auto config), but I still only get link-local addresses on the clients.  The auto detect results in "passthrough" on the connection type.

I've haven't tried to troubleshoot it, as I am not getting connection drops.

    It's worth a test.

Thanks so much for the input... I'm going to disable ipv6 and see how that goes and get debug files on that, and if still have problems going to put the fios router back in and just make them access points. What a waste of technology
