What FW version is on the RBR and RBS?
What brand and model# host router is the RBR connected too?
RBR using Dynamic or Static configuration for AP mode?
How are the RBS connected to the RBR? Wireless or ethernet?
How many RBS are deployed?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

What channel configurations are currently set on the router?
How is the IoT network configured? Default SSID name or custom name?
Using Both frequencies or a single frequency?
How are you determining that your IoT devices are not connected to the RBS?
How did you enable the IoT network? Using the RBR Web page or Orbi app?
I just did a hard reset on the satellites and the router (RBE973). Initially after the hard reset and changeover to AP mode the devices on the IoT were connecting to the RBR 971 but over time the IoT devices shifted to the satellites that were in closer proximity to the IoT device than the RBR 971. Patience is a virtue in my case. I still have 2.4 and 5 set on the IoT with the 2.4 hard set on channel 11. Also in the Orbi app, I have Anywhere Access disabled.
For the IoT network, I had the 2.4 GHz band enabled; I also enabled the 5 GHz band, and that seems to have made quite a difference.
The IoT devices are connecting better to the satellite — whereas before they weren't — and the DHCP server also seems to be working better.
So, it appears (though I don't know why) that for the IoT network configuration, you need to enable both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
