Hello, 100 Mbps devices shouldn’t force the satellite’s backhaul down to 100 Mbps, especially with the switch in between. If the Orbi is actually reporting the wired backhaul itself at 100M, though, that usually points to a cabling/negotiation issue on that Ethernet link. I’d try swapping the cable between the wall and satellite first. If it drops to 100M again, check the wall jack/patch panel as well.

Hi, so you are saying that when the satellite is left plugged into the switch it is affected when the drop occurs. Even though the drop also happens when the satellite is unplugged from the switch and left in wifi backhaul. I changed the cabling from the wall to the switch and from the switch to the satellite and holding at 1000 for almost a day. We will see if it holds past the usual 2 to 3 days before dropping. It is a long run of cable from the basement through the floor into the wall of the stairs leading to the third floor and into the attic and then over the ceiling and down another wall to the jack. There are 2 female /female couplings in the run one in the basement and one in the attic which I'm told is acceptable.

What grade is the cable? Router->2.5 gbps switch->Satellite should be negotiating 2.5 gpbs. So I am suspecting that cable might be Cat 5e.
FWIW, I have seen some similar symptoms with Cat 5e and multigig - sometimes negotiating 100M instead of gigabit.
If this continues, then try using a gigabit unmanaged switch instead of the multigig switch. Only connect the satellite and router to the switch - connect other devices to either the satellite ethernet, or (if not enough ports), connect the Asus switch to the satellite.
In general, with the Orbi mesh systems it is best not to mix backhaul traffic with other traffic to clients.

- The cable running through the walls and floors is 5e. The run to the 3rd floor is likely between 100 and 150 feet, with two couplers in the run. The 2.5GBASE-T standard is specifically designed to run over existing Cat 5e infrastructure and should be able to handle it up to 328 feet.
- The satellite on the same floor as the router is not connected to a switch and always shows a 2500m connection in the web interface. Before installing the URC MRX5, the 3rd floor was connected to the satellite and also showed a 2500m connection.
- The MRX-5 is used for the URC-TRC-1120 remote, which operates the LG-C3 TV, Dennon x3800 receiver with 5 Klipsch speakers, a subwoofer, and an Apple TV 4K. I checked the remote immediately after programming it and it showed 1000m. I asked the programmer, and he said it was normal because they used a 1gig switch. They also couldn’t get the remote to operate the TV unless they wired it to the switch.
- I tried changing the switch to the Asus 2.5 gigabit switch to try and get it back to 2500m, but it still only showed 1000m. I think you might be on to something. There are only two standard ports plus a 10gig port on the satellite, leaving me with one standard port short.
- How would I connect another switch to the mix or could I plug the router into the switch and then connect it to the 10gig port?

I get that. But I have a couple of old Cat 5e runs in my own walls, and one won't run multigig reliably (but does run gigabit). Hard to troubleshoot (and hard to replace the cable), so I just work around it.

You could connect the Asus switch to one of the standard ports on the satellite - both are multigig. Then you can connect the router to the other standard port.
I wouldn't connect the 10G port to the cat 5e cable (since you don't want it to negotiate anything faster then 2.5 gbps), but you could alternatively connect it to the Asus (since it will negotiate 2.5G).
