None of my port forwarding works now

Unfortunately I was up early yesterday. Downloaded the 12.1.8.7 and updated my firmware before it was pulled. None of my port forwarding works now. I've tried rebooting and removing and re-adding the forwards, nothing will forward. How can I downgrade?

  • Doing a factory reset got my port forward working again. Hoping there are no other issues or stability issues using this unreleased version. If so I would like to request the transition firmware to keep it handy.

Glad the reset working along with a DNS flush. Seems like something may have got left behind and FR cleared it out. Will keep this in mind.

Please keep v12 loaded for now and if you run into anything, please post about it first so we can check it before attempting to downgrade.

Glad you got it working. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

You are correct that the accidental release of version 12 for the 970 system has caused a lot of confusion and frustration.  The process to revert to a previous firmware version is:

    • Download the previous version from the support web site:
      https://kb.netgear.com/000070347/
    • Extract the disk images from the router and satellite zip files.
    • Connect to each of the satellites using the satellite IP address.  Log in using the web administration credentials.
    • Select "Firmware Update" from the menu.
    • Locate the satellite firmware image and upload it.
    • Repeat with every satellite.
    • Finally, connect to the router and navigate to Firmware Update... Manual Update.
    • Locate the router image and upload.
    • After the system reboots, the router and satellites should be on the same version.

This doesn't work for v12 back to v9. There is a transition FW needed.

Working with the user via PM.

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Is Armor or Protection Engine enabled?

You may need to perform a factory reset and setup from scratch. This is new FW and a major update. So older configurations may not work or something new has changed and needs to be reset and re-input. Something you should check into first please. Would help confirm if the issue continues or not.
