Orbi 371 system: mac can't connect to printer

With the printer connected to the satellite, which Orbi units are serving

Orbi routers create a single primary IP network (primary WiFi network plus Ethernet devices) and every device on the primary network should be able to communicate with every other device. (Devices on the Guest network typically are blocked from communicating with the primary network.)
As long as devices respond to ICMP (ping) requests, this is a fundamental method for verifying that a network is working correctly. (Windows, for example, requires the Firewall to be set to respond. Some devices, such Google Nest Mini speakers, simply do not respond and there is no method to make them do so.) So, the MacBook Pro being able to ping the printer, but the MacBook Air not being able to is...... crazy
