Orbi 770 lag spikes and disconnects
Hi, I recently purchased an Orbi 770 mesh system. Unfortunately I have a virgin media 5x and as such have had to try a number of workarounds to get them both to work. Currently the Orbi router i...

Hi,
Thanks for the response,
Firmware on NG V10.5.18.3
Broadband supplier is Virgin Media - Router is made by Sagecom and model is Hub 5x/ F5685LGB-VMB. The Orbi is connected to this by Ethernet cable. All cables are 6a.
There is about 26 feet between Orbi router and first satellite then about 8 feet to the next Sattelite from the first. There are just the 2 satellites.
When I first used the Orbi in Router mode it was the same as now.
There was coverage issues before I had the Orbi but not the lag spikes and drop outs like now.
One of the satellites is connected over wifi to the system however I have a cable from that to the ps5. That has no disconnects but massive lag spikes.
Wireless channels on the Orbi are
2.4Ghz Auto
5Ghz 40
Wireless channels on the virgin router are
2.4Ghz Auto
5Ghz Auto
Armor, parental controls, Tesffic meter all not on
Hope this is ok i am no expert.
Thanks

How is the other RBS connected? wired or wireless?
26 feet is too close between the one RBS and the RBR and the 1st RBS to the 2nd RBS, 30 feet is starting distances in between the RBR and from each RBS.
How big is the home in sq ft?
You'll need to disable all wifi radios on the ISP Modem/router. Your fine to leave the Orbi in AP mode as this avoids double NAT issues.
Something you might do to make contact with NG and ask about the beta FW thats available if your interested to try it and see if this helps.

Hi,
The house is no bigger that 1600 Sq. ft.
I have tried disabling the virgin router Wi-Fi channels but this does not improve the issues with the Orbi.
The issues are still there if the Orbi is in router or AP mode.
The virgin router does not have a modem mode. It is the Hub 5x. Some people say it has but have tried setting it up multiple times but the Orbi cannot connect to anything even after several reboots and resets.
I will contact NG about the beta firmware, seems crazy really as the speed I am getting near the PS5 wirelessly if fast but its the constant lag spikes which is annoying whilst gaming or the TV system disconnecting several times over a short period
Have even thought about the TP link Deco BE65 BE9300 but i have had an Orbi mesh system previously and it was excellent.

Others reported having issues with lag spikes while connected behind the RBS.
Hoping the beta FW will change this.
1600 sq ft, hoping the RBS is out at 30 feet or a bit more. 1600sq feet the RBR alone could work well.
