Decided to ultimately return for a full refund. because I was able to get a competitor mesh product working as expected in AP mode.

It did not come with that firmware preloaded. Initially the device said it was up to date at 10.5.10.10 and was still having this issue. I did the firmware upgrade hoping it would resolve it and so far no luck.
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since you applied that last FW update?
