Orbi 772 backhaul through MoCa
Hi everyone, I hope someone can help point me in the right direction, because both I (and Copilot, Gemini, and ChatGPT) have run out of ideas. I recently purchased a new mesh system (Netgear Orb...

Can you clarify what didn't work?
Also, was the Orbi set up as a router (not in AP mode)?

I had no internet in both satellite and router. It was still in AP mode though I had issues in connecting to the Orbi through the backend. I succeded in changing to routermode and now it works. Do you really don't think my (for me) optimal setup can work?

Good. The orbi needs to be in router mode, since you took out the TP-link.
Is the satellite now connected with MoCA? If not, then try that next. Connect the Orbi LAN port to the adapter, and then connect the coax directly to the cable going to either room 1 or room 2. Then connect a second adapter to a satellite port, and then connect the adapter to the coax cable in that room.
Once you get the backhaul working, then measure the wifi speeds in the house, and see if that arrangement gives you good coverage (or not).

Hi Stephen,
Yes, the satellite is connected through MoCa and works. I have measured the speed and its pretty poor in my livingroom (Where I wanted my router to be). Do you think (When both router and satellite is working) that I can move the router to my livingroom at keep et connected through MoCa and Coax still in routermode and whitout the TP link?
Thanks for all your help- StephenBOct 06, 2026Guru - Experienced User

It is possible - did you read through the frequency selection stuff for the MoCA adapter we posted above?
- You'd need a 2-way splitter in the living room, and another 2-way splitter at the fiber modem. The one at the fiber modem needs to connect to MoCA adapter, the living room coax, and the satellite room coax.
- The adapter at the fiber modem is tuned to the WAN network frequency.
- The adapter in the satellite room is tuned to the LAN network fequency.
- One adapter in the living room is tuned to the WAN network frequency, and is connected to the router WAN port. The other is tuned to the LAN network frequency, and is connected to one of the router LAN ports.
What is your ISP download speed? That lets us determine the best frequencies for the two MoCA networks (which one should be D-Band Low, and which is D-Band High).
Though the best performance is to get another satellite - better MoCA speed (since you don't need to use frequency selection), and no need for splitters. Then you'd put the router with the fiber modem, and one satellite in each room.
