Orbi 970 Series is NETGEAR backhaul speed v 960

Hello, I currently have the Orbi 960 series.

My question is, I've just upgraded to 1GB broadband in the UK

I have my main computers in the office upstairs. They are linked to the Internet via cable to the satellite Orbi in the office, and then they use the Backhaul to connect to the main Orbi router.

Using the SpeedTest on my Mac, I get download 375 mbps and upload 104mbps

Would using the new Orbi 970 set-up increase this speed to nearer the broadband speed of 1GB or not

As I read the new Orbi 970 Backhaul now uses a faster protocol. I just wandering if its worth the upgrade or not.

Thank you for your help

Bad grammar or spelling, sorry dyslexic

  • we can't say 100% because many things impact wireless performance. Interference, objects in the way, distance, etc.

It might help but it might not get you to the gigabit speeds you're wanting.

Is there a reason you need gigabit at the satellite? most services can't saturate gigabit anyway so they rarely hit that fast of speed. The only time you usually saturate gigabit is when speedtesting.

You could always try it and buy from somewhere with a generous return policy. that'd be about the only way to see how it actually performs
