Orbi 970 Wi-Fi 7 Ordered
Just placed my order for the 970 mesh routers—can’t wait to get them up and running! I've had a fantastic experience with the 850 WiFi 6 system so far—hands down the best wireless setup I’ve ever use...

What I do first, use the default SSID name during the intial setup on the new system. Get to the home screen and ensure the RBS are connected as well. Setup all other features you want, accept for the WIFI SSID name and PW. Leave this for last item to change. Once you have most of the system setup and mostly ready, then go in and change the SSID name and PW and channels on the new system. After you select APPLY for this change, give about 30 seconds, then power OFF the new system. Then proceed to where you put the new RBR at the location of the old RBR and follow the process of powering it on after you reboot or power cycle the ISP modem/ONT. Go from there.

I recommend setting up the incoming system offline prior to connecting it to the ISP service. You can set it up with a wired PC and web browser. Have RBS in same room or near the incoming RBR first. Get the system setup for same wifi SSID name and PW and channels. https://kb.netgear.com/22697/How-do-I-install-my-NETGEAR-router-using-the-router-web-interface
Once you have the RBR and RBS setup, power off the new RBS and RBR. Power OFF all the out going RBS. Place the incoming RBR near the out going RBR and power it ON. Power cycle or Reboot the ISP modem or ONT. Right after the reboot starts there, disconnect the out going RBR from the WAN Port and connect that cable to the incoming RBR from the ISP modem/ONT. After the ISP has rebooted and back to ready, power OFF the out going RBR. Your devices should automatically migrate and connect to the new RBR.
Go place the incoming RBS at there remote locations and power them ON.
Allow for about 10 minutes for the RBS to settle in.
I do this all the time when putting a different system on line to test.
