Orbi 970 Wired Backhaul not Woking

Device Type: Orbi 970 Mesh system with 2 Orbi 970 satellites.

I’m currently having an issue with getting the 10g wired backhaul to work. My current system is configured as followed: RBE971 > Netgear 10G unmanaged switch (XS508M) > RBE970 (I have 2 satellites, each connected to the switch). I have shielded Cat 8 cable run for all connections. I have set static IPs for the satellites, factory reset the router and satellites, unplugged all devices from network switch besides satellites and router to no avail. The backhaul connection does work when the satellites are directly connected to router, but the way i have everything set up it would be more convenient to have everything hooked up to the switch. any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • When you first connected the RBS, did you wirelessly connect and sync them to the RBR first, then once they are showing BLUE LED in front, then ethernet connect them to the switch?

What FW version is loaded on the RBR and RBS?

Static IP meaning Reserved IP addresses on the RBR?

Wondering if you have a faulty switch when you connect them to the switch. I have a XS505M and this works for my 970 RBS.

Guero_net I have exactly your configuration, including the XS508M, and have been running it for 9 months now without issue:

      RBE971 > Netgear 10G unmanaged switch (XS508M) > RBE970 (I have 2 satellites, each connected to the switch).

My cabling is different -> I have shielded Cat 6 cable run for all connections.

I have set static (reserved) IPs for the satellites

      ---

FURRYe38 recommended to have them sync first in close proximity to the router, then move them to the place where they will reside with Ethernet backhaul. I remember in the past, not letting them fully sync first via wireless caused problems.

Make sure the router and 970s are on FW version 9.12.5.3 - it didn't show up for some people, if you don't have it and can't get it, let us know.

See how that works - if not, it might be a faulty 508M?

  • Any progress on this?
