Orbi BE Series Troubleshooting Tips - Reboots and Crashes
Couple of items for users to try for those seeing random reboots, crashes or odd internet services behaviors or mobile phone issues, please try the following:
Disable:
- IPv6
- All Admin Logging on the RBRs web page.
- Disable 6Ghz support on phones and pads if the option is available on the device.
- Some have noticed that the RBR unit may be running warmer temperatures then other prior router units. Place a USB 120MM fan on top of the RBR unit and allow the fan to pull air from the bottom upwards to the top of the fan.
These are just some suggestions for users to try while NG is working on these issues that users maybe seeing. Hoping that these will be resolved as soon as possible by NG. Please be patient.

Orbi 970 Series Crashes? Here is a Workaround
If you’re experiencing unexpected restarts on your Orbi 970 series system, you’re not alone. After extensive testing, I’ve found a workaround that has made a big difference in my setup. Netgear is aware of this problem, but as of now, no firmware fixes have been released.
These suggestions are based on the Orbi 970 router and 971 satellite, but they very well might apply to other Orbi WiFi 6E or 7 systems as well (I haven’t tested beyond the 970 series).
I performed this testing on Firmware version 9.12.5.3. These workarounds may not work on older FW versions.
The Issue Being Reported:
The Orbi router and/or satellite randomly restarts — almost like a crash.
To Prevent Random Crashes or Restarts: Disable Logging on the Router
- Log into your router’s web interface (usually at 192.168.1.1)
- Go to the Advanced tab > Administration > Logs
- In the “Include in logs” section, uncheck everything
- Click Apply
- Then reboot or power cycle all Orbi devices (your choice)
Since doing this, I’ve gone over 72 days without a single restart. I was previously seeing one or two per week.
Hopefully this suggestion will help others get some relief until Netgear issues official firmware update(s) that fix the problem. If you try this out, please share your results, so we can compare notes.
Good luck!
