Solution to replace my Spectrum router
Newest spectrum router in office, wife has signal stability issues in living room about 60 feet from router, also 2 outside cameras have poor signal, about 45 ft from router on outside of rock wall, ...
In this situation, Spectrum customers have a plethora of options. A lot depends on whether Spectrum provides telephone service through the cable service and how much it costs to rent the existing Spectrum WiFi router.
Some examples:
- Spectrum provides WiFi "Extenders" at $5/month each which will extend coverage considerably. It appears there is no long term commitment, so it would be relatively inexpensive to get a couple of them and "see what happens". i.e. try Spectrum extenders for a month and "see how it goes". Spectrum remains responsible for service and repairs. This might provide enough relief that you can study options and come up with a deliberate plan.
- WiFi extenders are available from lots of vendors (look on Amazon) One-time cost. No monthly commitment. These work best to support WiFi devices which are not mobile.
- Mesh WiFi systems are also available from vendors such as Asus, eero, Google, Netgear, TP-Link, Ubiquiti in a wide variety of models and prices.
