2.5gb switch expansion
Netgear CM2000 modem
Netgear RAXE500 Router
I’m curious if I can add a 5 port 2.5 gb switch with this equipment and have 4 extra 2.5gb ports? I know the modem has a 2.5 gb port and I know the router has 1 2.5gb wan port but that’s all. I’m going to guess that I’m going to need a new router that has 2 2.5 gb ports….but I wanted to check with the community first since this is a new router if it was possible 🤦🏼♂️

It won't work. You have to go modem---router.
Either way you run into a bottleneck because you either use the 2.5 gig port to connect to the modem and get full speeds or you use it for the LAN and then the modem is bottlenecked.
You can always use lan port aggregation with a switch and rig it but I've never been that huge of fan of lan port aggregation.
- DecibleAspirantYeah, that was my conclusion as well. I wanted to check and see if I missed something. Only way to make this work is to upgrade the router again that has multiple Multigig ports. And I can’t think of one currently that has multiple 2.5+ wan ports.
Only NG router on the market currently that has both multi gig WAN and LAN ports is the Orbi 960 series. A future RS700 model has same as well. Due out in August.
