400 meg speedtest cut in half
Just purchased the NightHawk AX5400 and put online..then let it get the latest firmware update.
Noticed speedtest now went from 400+ meg to 225+ or - speeds..Put the Asus RT-AC86U back online and went back to normal.
Any ideas as to why this is happening?
Afterall..if I'm paying for the 400..i want the 400..

Anytime you update firmware and are having an issue, a good first response is to factory reset and re-install. Especially with AX devices as they're so new. They've gotten quite significant firmware changes.
Here's a funny.. I run OOKLA speedtest and show a max of 265 meg..but then run the speedtest inside the router itself (OOKLA also) and it shows 450 meg..as it normally does with the Asus router in play..and this is done thru my desktop system which is wired and not wireless..
Any ideas of why this happens?

Reason this happens is the ookla speedtest frequently chooses different servers and some servers aren't capable of maximizing speed.
Oh..forgot to mention in my other followup post on the speedtest both external and internal in the router..I did reset like you suggested before running those tests per your recommendation..
Found out what it was..by activating the Armor inside the router for the protection..THAT program is what caused it to slow the internet down..I reset it again and this time did NOT activate the Armor security..and then ran speedtest from a browser as well as inside the router configuration..BOTH came to over 450 meg downloads..
