AX1800 WiFi 6 Router Model R6700AX as part of a mesh system

New to this whole thing, I have a 4 bedroom two story with full basement and large garage with an out building with a generator in it and the WIFI is weak in most location a friend is suggesting adding a mesh system to cure the problem areas.  I can get Ethernet cable to most locations. I need to know what devices to purchase for use with my installed 4-Stream AX1800 WiFi 6 Router Model R6700AX. Router locate on first floor..

Thanks for your help and expertise, Tom

  • Your router model is not Mesh-capable. For a true Mesh system, you'd need to look at Orbi or MK packs of NETGEAR.

Never one of Netgear's most capable routers. Seems to be a variant on something launched nearly a decade ago with WiFi 6 bolted on, a feature that is useless unless you have wifi clients that have that technology.

As microchip8 says, may not meet your needs.

You may not need Mesh.  But that is down to your budget and the number of users.

Try plugging your needs into the filters on the product pages:

Wireless Routers for Home | NETGEAR

    and

Orbi: Whole Home WiFi System for Better WiFi Everywhere | NETGEAR

Then check back here for reports on the things you are considering, but remember that people turn up in this community with problems, not compliments. So look at reviews on Amazon, for example.
