AX2400 RAX30 Freezes every 7 days

Hi everyone,

I have a problem that's driving me crazy.

Exactly every 7 days, my Rax30 disconnects from the internet and it freezes.

What I mean, is that the Internet LED (2nd from the top) turns off, and I can't access the router anymore, not via wifi, nor via ethernet (Mac settings say that computer was unable to retrieve ip address).

There is nothing that can be done when the router is in this state, except a power cycle.

Disconnecting and re-connecting the internet cable won't do anything.

My home network is as follows:

  1. Fiber comes to apartment
  2. Internet provider's bridge device takes fiber in and has ethernet out
  3. Ethernet goes to Nighthawk

I tried everything, from upgrading to latest firmware to resetting multiple times, to getting a replacement from Netgear (we thought it was a hardware problem, but nope).

My only guess is that the IP does something every 7 days that causes the router to freeze, but that sounds incredibly stupid.

Any idea?

    Tried talking to your ISP?

    Your theory sounds right.

Some of them have strange time-out regimes. That frequency is suspicious.

Do the logs on your RAX30 have any clues?

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

    Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

    Check for various troubleshooting tips.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
