Can no longer connect to r8000's IP after switching to AP mode.

I recently  switched my r8000 router to use AP mode instead of acting as a router to solve an issue with phones connecting to it, which worked btw, but now I can no longer connect to my r8000 via it's new IP address. I'm not too worried (All devices are connecting fine and the speed tests are looking good) but it would be nice to connect to make changes later on. Here's what I do know:

  • The firmware is  1.0.4.46 (if I remember correctly, can't really check though)
  • My modem is an   ARRIS  BGW210-700
    • Firmware:  2.6.4
  • My ISP is AT&T on their 1000mbps Fiber plan
  • The r8000 was set up as an IP Passthrough (jank version of a bridge)
  • The  Nighthawk App cannot find my device on the network
  • My laptop cannot find the device via ethernet or wifi
  • The radios on the ARRIS modem/router are turned off
  • All devices are connected to the r8000

  • If the R8000 is in access point mode, the arris is assigning IP addresses. If you log into the arris and check its attached devices list (or equivelent), it should have the ip address for the R8000 in there. If not, try rebooting the r8000 and checking the list again.

    • An easy way to get the IP address of the device is to install the Netgear desktop genie for your operating system, and then look at the network map.

The map may even have a clickable link to the AP's graphical user interface.

If you want the desktop genie for Windows start here:

genie Landing Page | Apps | Discover | Home | NETGEAR

You may have to dismiss an annoying pop-up that tries to push a mobile app down your throat.
