Yes, the CAX30 is intended to connect to a cable system, not a fiber optic system. However....
The first step is to learn exactly what Mediacom intends to install and what your options are.
- They must install a device to terminate the optical fiber, but this device might be a simple Optical Network Terminator (ONT) or it might be a combination ONT/router/WiFi device.
- For example, this web page appears to indicate that Mediacom installs eero WiFi routers.
- Also this comment in reference to their 1G "deal"
Oh Lord, no that EERO crap again! I have one computer that connects WIRED. It didn't work when we tried the EERO things. I sent them all back and told them what to do with them. Thank you, yes, I don't know yet. I called but they can't say yet, at least not for me.
