Connecting Nighthawk RAX54 to Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra to use USB tethering

Hi everyone.  Need help configuring T-Mobile Galaxy S21 android phone to use USB tethering for my RAX54 router. Thank you.  Tommy

  • Something to contact T-Mobile or Samsung about.

I don't think USB tethering is supported since the USB port on the router doesn't support any internet services. The RAX router requires use of the WAN port connected to a ISP modem or ONT for it's internet services.

I'm happy to report that I'm connected to the Internet via an ARGOM Tech USB-C to RJ-45 Network Cable Adapter (dongle) connected to the Type-C female connector in my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and using the standard Ethernet tethering option of the phone software.  That is all I wanted.  Thanks for your time.  BTW, Nice setup you have.  Chhers. • I have seen one user a while ago that used a usb-c to ethernet adapter with a phone that was able to tether that route.

I can't remember if they needed to put the router in AP mode or just ran it straight but they had it working.

Most phone ISP's set a limit on how much data you can use this route through. Something to keep in mind.

Thanks for your comments.  Here, I'm validating what you saw.  It was a real Plug and Play setup.  Router config is as it came out of the box. As far as I know, my mobile data plan is unlimited.  Maybe, they will reduce my speed.  I'll wait and see.
