Connecting RAX120 to Vera Z Wave

Just replaced my Asus AC2400 with the Night Hawk RAX120 to improve WiFi connections and very impressed with double speed on the iPhone 11s.  The set up on the mobile app went well and using the previous SSID everything connected using defaults.  I have 4 wired connections over CAT5 (or 6).  My Vera Z Wave controller will not connect to the router.  I am pretty sure it is being rejected as the RAX120 views it as a router.  How do I get over this?  No problem with the Asus, it just plugged and played.
