Does Nighthawk RAX50v2 Block Palo Alto Global Protect VPN

I work from home full time and my company is switching to Palo Alto's Global Protect VPN client and I cannot get the VPN client to work.  Although we are troubleshooting with Palo, I am wondering if anyone knows if there is some setting on my Nighthawk that would block VPN traffic.  I have gone through all of the security settings and it is set to not block connections.  I saw one thread that someone had this issue and the recommendation was to change the DNS servers but it didn't show what DNS servers were recommended.  Any ideas?

  • What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Try disabling the following and see:
    Armor, Smart Parental Controls

Try Cloudfare or Quad9 DNS servers for DNS on the router.

You aren't the first person to turn up here using that VPN.

Search - NETGEAR Communities – Global Protect VPN

I have no idea if they are relevant, but they could rule out a few blind alleys.

  • It’s possible that your Nighthawk router is interfering with the Global Protect VPN. While changing DNS servers might help, you could also try disabling any advanced security features, like SPI Firewall or QoS, that might be blocking the VPN traffic. Additionally, ensure that VPN passthrough is enabled on your router. If the problem persists, try switching to public DNS servers like Google (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) to see if that resolves the issue.

Thank you so much! I actually already have those DNS servers manually set and do not have any of the firewall or QoS enabled. I’ll dig around for the VPN pass through because I don’t remember seeing that in my settings.
