How do I get a USB drive to show up in Windows? I have a Nighthawk RAX48..
I had an older Linksys router with a USB drive attached. Worked fine, just needed a faster router with better speeds and better wifi range, etc.
I hooked up the new router just fine. I plugged in the USB drive and went to ReadyShare to give it a name. I have no idea how the heck to get it to show up in Windows 10 on my desktop (wired) and laptop (wireless).
I did figure out if I go to START menu and type in the box \\readyshare a window opened and I saw the name of my readyshare in there. I mapped it as a network drive. It worked on my desktop. I could not figure out how to get it to work on the laptop (wireless).
Day 2.. it no longer works on my desktop.
It says "An error occured while reconnecting T: to \\readyshare\videostorage
Microsoft Windows Network: The local device name is already in use.
This connection has not been restored."

Does that mean you actually set it up in ReadySHARE?

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Check the section in the manual Share USB Storage Devices Attached to the Router
You may have done that already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear gave up on supplying paper manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads. While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

I think it was pretty clear I already set it up in ReadyShare. I just need to get it to show in Windows now. The manual instructions did not work for me. This website doesn't make it immediately obvious that there's other forums I could post in. I'll try there.

Not really. All you said was :
I plugged in the USB drive and went to ReadyShare to give it a name.
As a long-time user of ReadySHARE, I know there is more to it than that.
But if you think you have done everything with ReadySHARE, and don't want to go into more details, fine.
I suspect that your problem is with Windows. Perhaps you could take a cue from the messages you get and ask Microsoft for help. Netgear doesn't have much control over what happens on your desktop.
