i have the modem router c3000 , can i hook my nighthawk ax3000 to be the primary router?

trying to hook my night hawk ax3000 to my modem router combo netgear c3000. help!

    you can put the C3000 in modem only mode. 

    This allows you to use the AX3000 as primary router.
