LG TV connects to iPhone hotspot... refuses internet access to Nighthawk RAX80

Router Setup

  • Running Firmware Version V1.0.10.140_1.0.79
  • enabled 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz - both are WPA2-PSK (AES)
  • Enabled AX (only 5 G has the OFDMA)
  • NAT filtering set to Secured (Default)
  • No parental controls or any other major changes - mostly default
  • LAN setup default 192.168.1.x

Modem

  • Verizon Internet Gateway in IP Passthrough mode (to avoid conflict with netgear router settings)

TV Specs: LG 65SK9000PUA , Firmware 5.50.15 (latest)

Router Troubleshooting

  • Power off (unplugged 30 seconds)
  • Software reboot 3x times

Working devices

  • PC Laptop (wired)
  • PS5 (wireless)
  • 2x Ring Cameras
  • PC Desktop (wired) - only device with port forwarding for remote desktop
  • Nest thermostat (wireless)

TV Troubleshooting

  • Factory reset
  • Successful connection to both 2.4 and 5G signals within setup menu
  • No apps, including LG Content (their app store) will load. They can't detect a connection
  • Netflix app has a test server. shows all green checkmarks. Netflix software reset
  • hard wired connection. same results as above (disabled wifi)
  • Turned on iPhone hotspot... This works!!! Apps recognize the source as internet and work fine!
  • Turned TV off. attempted hard wired connection... same issues prior to iPhone hotspot
  • Changing to manual DNS on both wired and wireless to 8.8.8.8

I'm trying to avoid doing a factory reset on my router because it will take over an hour to get the ring cameras and google thermostat to reset. The LG TV is the ONLY device that will connect to the network, show it has internet connection, but the apps will NOT see an internet connection.
