Need Help Setting up IPv6 Cloudfare on Nighthawk
I'm struggling setting up Cloudflare IPv6. The more I search online, the more confused I'm getting. Can someone put in simple terms what I need to put into these fields (screenshot)?
I'm getting several messages when I try different things, but I've been unable to figure this out.
I'm very grateful for any assistance provided.
I found this from Netgear website, but I don't know enough for this to make any sense to me.
- In the Internet Connection Type list, select Fixed.
Configure the fixed IPv6 addresses for the WAN connection:- IPv6 Address/Prefix Length. The IPv6 address and prefix length of the router WAN interface.
- Default IPv6 Gateway. The IPv6 address of the default IPv6 gateway for the router's WAN interface.
- Primary DNS Server. The primary DNS server that resolves IPv6 domain name records for the router.
- Secondary DNS Server. The secondary DNS server that resolves IPv6 domain name records for the router.
Here are some of the messages I'm getting when I try different things:
IPv6 Address and Prefix Length are required for the WAN Setup.
The WAN IPv6 Address and the LAN IPv6 address has to be in different subnet.
IPv6 Address and Prefix Length are required for the LAN Setup.
From the Cloudflare website:
Primary DNS: 1.1.1.3
Secondary DNS: 1.0.0.3
For IPv6 use:
Primary DNS: 2606:4700:4700::1113
Secondary DNS: 2606:4700:4700::1003

What is the brand and model number of the modem/ONT that is connected upstream?
Who is your internet service provider (ISP)? Do you know for sure they support IPv6? The reason I ask is not all ISPs support IPv6.
Have you configured your primary and secondary domain name servers (DNS) for the Cloudfare IPv4 addresses?
After you made the IPv4 DNS changes, did you restart your router? To restart, it is best to pull the power cord and wait a few seconds before reconnecting.
- microchip8MasterWhy are you messing with fixed IPv6 addresses? Do you have any allocated by your ISP? Most residential customers have a DHCPv6 address allocated along with a prefix. You should use Auto-Detect or DHCP to fetch an IP address.
