Nighthawk AC3000 (R7900P) wifi 5 vs. Nighthawk AX1800 (3 unit Mesh) wifi 6

Found a hell of a deal on a Nighthawk AX1800 3 unit mesh network (lets just say it was close to the register) and I picked it up before I did any research. Now that I am home, before I unbox I wanted to get some opinions on which system would be better for my situation.

Currently I am using a AC3000 (R7900P), but have been wanting to implement a wifi 6 Mesh for future proof and to ensure better coverage across the bands

Variables:

  1. Roughly 4,100 Sqft, spread across 3 levels

  2. As of today I have 39 devices on my network (mix of streaming and smart devices)

  3. 11 TV's streaming (probably not more than 5 active at any time)

  4. Google fiber 1GB speed

  5. I have been having some recent and intermittent issues with my 5Ghz bands on my current R7900P losing connection and or major slowness.

  • So what exactly is your question?

(wifi 6 is currently the way to go. if you have reception spots, a Mesh system can fix them)

That's not a Netgear model number.

AX1800 is not a unique Netgear model number. Many devices come with the AC/AX tag, but it is essentially a label that Netgear, and others, attach to hardware to describe wifi speeds.

Netgear has made around a dozen "AX1800s". That is, by the way, a now slightly aged wifi standard, first seen around 2019, but possibly still in production.
