Nighthawk AX12 AX6000 WiFi Router (RAX120) frequent router manual resets

I have had my Nighthawk for about two years now and everything has been great. Recently, I have noticed I need to reboot my router more than I ever have in the past? Anyone know if this is normal or should I look at getting a new router?

  • What firmware version are you on?

Why are you having to reboot it?

Have you tried a factory reset and reinstall (not from a backup)?

      1. Currently running V1.2.8.40
      2. I notice trouble connecting my work laptop (I have to use a VPN) and sometimes I will randomly start losing WiFi (not hardline though)
      3. I have not tried a factory reset? Does that fix a lot of things?

Sometimes a hardware reset can help if its a process getting stuck or an old setting causing issues.

You say it starts to loose wifi. What actually happens? What notice do you get from your laptop or what are you seeing?

Loose wifi doesn't tell us if its disconnecting from the wifi or what exactly is happening.

Do you notice if your connected to the 2.4ghz or the 5ghz when it happens?

2.4ghz is much slower and sensitive to interference. You can try changing what channel the 2.4ghz is on.
Or you could even disable smart connect (disables the combining of the ssid's). Then you can make sure the laptop is connected to the 5ghz.
