Nighthawk AX6 AX4300: external HD connected to Readyshare USB keeps disconnecting, won't reconnect
Hi,
I have a Nighthawk AX6 AX4300 6-Stream WiFi router (RAX45) with a USB port. I have connected an external hard drive to the USB port so I can access media content through the WiFi. When the router initially boots up, it connects to the external hard drive. However, after a period of time, it looses the connection and can't find the //readyshare server. The only way to have it reconnect is to unplug the router and have it cycle. It then only stays connected for a short period before disconnecting again.
Any suggestions / configuration changes that will keep the router from loosing connectivity to the external drive, or at least be able to reconnect to the USB port without having to restart the router?
The Nighthawk firmware version is "V1.0.11.112 and the external hard drive is a 500MB Seagate Free Agent, 9NK2AG-500
Or are there specific hard drives that are supported for this router? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!!
Dave

Is the external self powered?
or is it powered off the usb port?Does it stay working fine if plugged into a pc?
Reason I ask is the info I could find on it was that drive was released in 2006. A bit older of an external drive

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, it works fine when plugged into a computer. It's only when it's plugged into the router that it is unable to be found on the network.
Are there specific external hard drives that are compatible with my NightHawk model that I would need to use for this to work?
Regards,
Dave

Sorry, it's also self powered using an AC plug. It doesn't need to get its power from the PC or router.
what format is it in?
