Nighthawk rax40 wifi not working

Our wifi network stopped working yesterday afternoon. We have isolated the problem to the router as the issue. I am using the rax40 with an arris surfboard modem. I connected an old laptop to the modem via Ethernet cable and it connected to the internet.

Specifics:
- no devices in the house can connect via wifi (range of Apple, Samsung, and google products)
- the wifi network name (regular and 5g) appear as options to connect to, but then I get a “no internet connection” error message
- I have tried power cycling about 5 times
- I tried reinstalling using the nighthawk app, it never works
- I tried a hard reset by using a pushpin and holding it in for 20 seconds it did not work
- I attempted to update the firmware, but since i cannot connect a device on the network, I cannot use routerlogin.net

Wondering if I can I put the firmware update on a jump drive and use the USB port on the nighthawk to install it or if I am overlooking something

       Firmware version?

       Model number?

What about a computer with a wired (Ethernet) connection?

Which kind of "did not work"?  Did the reset operation not happen, or
did the reset not solve the original problem?

"not work" is not a useful problem description.  It does not say what
you did.  It does not say what happened when you did it.  As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
    descriptions or interpretations.

       You can't.

       How about the obvious?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at least).  Read.  Look for the
    LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot".

  • You’ve just described the dropout issue that 99% of owners here are facing with the
80 firmware. Whilst reverting back to an older firmware version will rectify the issue in terms of a workaround (not a fix). However there are beta versions currently being tested to fix the issue properly.
