Nighthawk RAXE500 and Sylvania Smart WiFi Bulbs
I spent about an hour or so with Netgear support last night trying to get my Sylvania Smart WiFi bulbs (BR30) to be seen by the app on my hope network. The lights used to work on my previous router just fine.
I have verified many MANY times that....
- I'm using the 2.4G band on my Nighthawk for connecting via my smart phone app.
- I've tried multiple apps, starting with the Sylvania Smart WIFI app, then the Fiet Electric app and Smart Life. The Sylvania app doesn't see the bulbs no matter what I do. The other two apps see the bulbs instantly, stop some of them from blinking, then timeout and the bulbs never get added.
- I've followed the bulb instructions to get the bulbs to blink slow by going through a series of turning them off and on X amount of times to connect in AP mode, but they never get to the slow blinking stage.
- I've verified I'm using WPA2/AES, but tried all security modes, including using none at all.
- I have a lamp sitting 12 inches from the router, so it's not a distance issue.
- My 2.4G WiFi password is correct.
- I tried installing the apps on my iPad to see if there was an issue with my Android app, same results.
- After much trouble and wrestling with the web interface, I was finally able to update the firmware, even though it told me it was already up to date at a previous version. I went to Firmware Version V1.0.12.96_2.0.45 manually after two separate upload commands.
- The bulbs are rated well on Amazon and nobody else seems to be having the same issue, leaving me to believe it's something with this router.

Be sure to disable Smart Connect and also try disabling AX mode on 2.4Ghz as well on the RAXE web page.

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned that I tried both of those things as well. I currently have my bulbs packaged back up and ready to send back, but I'm not playing with my old bulbs (KHSUIN) and they don't work either. While I hate the Netgear Nighthawk interface being split between a required mobile app and browser page to access all the router functionality, I really like the speed and wide signal. I'd hate to have to return this router due it killing my smart home.
If you setup a different phone as a hotspot with the same ssid/password as your current router (with your current router off) can you set them up and connect them? If so, try that. Then shut off the hotspot and see if they auto-connect to the router.
