RAX1120 Netgear will not register brand new router
My new RAX120 arrived today from Amazon. Had some issues so I contaced support. Support says this brand new router is already registered (took it out of the celophane wrap myself). Support refuses to allow any request or contact due to lack of registration. Real catch 22. Totally horrible customer service. Amazon is happy to accept this non-supported paper weight.

So I have been looking around and found over 2000 posts on "registration nightmare". Clearly Netgear has known about registration issues for awhile. Now why would they knowingly leave so many owners stranded? We'll it must be easier to screw owners than fix the problem. Time to make this louder

Never had an issue registering products. Was this a refurb unit or brand new?
did you contact Amazon over the issue?

It's a rat's nest. In trying to protect Netgear from dodgy practices and shady sellers they manage to annoy genuine users.
NETGEAR Product Registration FAQ | Answer | NETGEAR SupportA year or so ago they managed to make it even worse b y removing the ability to "deregister" devices.
We can possible help out.
What issues are you having with setup? (describe them in detail since we aren't there to see whats going on)
What firmware are you on?
What modem/gateway are you connecting to?
You can also find manuals, firmware, and guides at the support site here:

Potentially a moderator might be able to help you get it registered but we're not able to.

I resolved the issue. The problem was duplicate accounts. Thanks

Interesting. Following the noise from above, how did the installation process, documentation or whatever lead to a duplicate account? One would assume the primary key for the Netgear account would be the e-mail address. How was it possible to get into that situation, and where have you discovered "duplicate accounts"? Negear can learn from potential issues and enhance processes...
