RAX20 Ethernet cable connected devices do not connect to internet
Hello,
Searched and searched to no avail for a fix. Maybe one could be obtained here.
The problem with an RAX20 router is that devices when connected with Ethernet cable do not connect to internet. All ports that are for Ethernet cables. When same devices are connected to the WiFi being broadcast from the RAX20 router, they connect to internet.
Devices are an NVR, PS5, TV, and a netgear AP.
Tried resetting the router. Doesn’t work.
Is there a fix ?
Or did the part of the router that allows internet through Ethernet cables “die”?

- First, restart the network.
Check.
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
Turn off and unplug modem.
Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.
Check
Then the usual boilerplate questions to eliminate some of the more common issues that crop up here.
Check…?
Firmware of router
V1.0.16.132_2.0.92
Modem
Netgear cm500
These devices have been working together for about a year and a half. The router ports just up and quit about two months ago.
When you mentioned firmware I researched and came across that the firmware mentioned above isn’t for this router.
The most recent release for the RAX20 is:
V1.0.11.112_2.0.77
I also came across other articles that said the firmware V1.0.16.132_2.0.92 messed with port forwards, dhcp, static ip. Not all on the RAX20, but various models of router.
So I uploaded the V1.0.11.112_2.0.77 firmware into the router, rebooted and tested that the devices now receive internet through hardline connection.
Turned off automatic updates.
All done, for now.
Thanks!

There is a logical process in tracking down this sort of problem.

What firmware version do you have on the device?
A number is more useful than "the latest". There may be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware with an app or in the browser interface.
If there is one it might also help if you told people the make and model number of the modem/gateway/ONT that connects this router to the Internet. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?
I ask because a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.- MikeyGee1InitiateFirst, restart the network.

Thanks!Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
